I bumped into this video a long time ago and I absolutely loved her voice.

I hope you have enjoyed watching this video and there are more where this came from (Beige Walls, Sleep, Plaything (love this one too). Oh, and they’re also on Itunes.

You’re welcome to link up your own tuesday tune here.
Have a great week!

fill in the blank friday

Link up at The Little Things We Do ! Oh, I know it's not Friday...
But this is my blog and I've decided everyday is Friday here in Blogland!

1. One of life's most simple pleasures is       watching a movie with a bottle of wine cuddling in the sofa with my husband  .

2.      Those passive aggressive Facebook status updates (the one you know are directed at someone in particular)   makes me want to punch someone. C'mon! Really, dude?? What are you, five?? (Jami, you actually put my very thoughts into words here)

3. I like   rainy days   because    that's when I feel more introspective .

4.    Gazebo    is a funny word.

5. If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be      hmm... let me think... just give me one more minute...

6.  I'm happy that    I have a job, particularly now with the economy as it is     .

7.  I would never   , ever go skydiving unless my life absolutely depended on it. I don't have vertigo; I just treasure my life enough not to put it in jeopardy like that. Just the thought of it is frightening enough for me. Call me a coward! I don't care   .

wild honeymoon · Skane (Sweden)

Our trip started in Copenhagen. We stayed there for three days - which, by the way, was more than enough to visit the main sites - then we crossed Øresund Bridge by train (super cool!).

As we got to Sweden, we rented a car and... headed north!

This is pretty much what we did:

I'll be posting some more pictures of our trip in future posts...

I loved every minute of our honeymoon, despite a few difficulties such as almost being arrested by the Norwegian customs police officers who thought we were drug dealers - but that’s another story and I’ll leave it for a later post. :)

I was reading Cherie's post when I realized I had never written any posts about music on my blog before. Not once! Shame, shame, shame! Anyway, she says she is a firm believer that no one can truly appreciate music, unless you listen to it at full volume. I couldn't agree with her more!

Now I've got to say something here: good music is like great wine. I hate when people say 'this one is the best, that one is more expensive'... See, I've tried about hundreds of them and to be very honest: the ones I like the most are neither expensive nor famous. I just like them, it doesn't have to be so complicated! Narrow-minded people are so annoying... so, if you happen to be one of them, don't come to me saying I have no taste for wine or whatever nonsense you might be thinking. I really don't care.

Music is about the same, isn't it? I can't stand heavy metal, for example; it scares me out of my mind (it does; it really, really does). I love jazz, definitely some blues, maybe a little pop. And I absolutely love rock, you know. I grew up listening to rock music and it is such a huge part of my life (Aerosmith is so cool I never get tired of listening to their songs!). Still, not all rock bands are awesome: some are just ok and I must admit most of them completely suck.

Every now and then, though, I bump into new amazing songs that make me want to sing loud enough so I can truly feel those lyrics. Honestly, there are few things I enjoy more than the first listen of a great song, even if it's nothing new to the rest of the world. That's how all my hyper-addictive musical relationships begin. And they invariably end up holding me captive for weeks or even months until I find another amazing artist that'll automatically cause me to break up with my former musical affair.

I remember when I first discovered Nina Simone many years ago. Isn't she great?

crab fishin'

Though we prefer going to the lake house during the winter, we usually spend our summer vacations there too. This year wasn’t any different.

The thing I like the most about going there is all the nature and wildlife that surround us. (I should bring the camera with me more often, so I don't miss anything. Last week we bumped into a curious, supercute squirrel standing on a tree branch. It was staring at us just waiting for me to take its picture... but, of course, I didn't have the camera with me.)

There’s another thing, though, that I love to do during the summer there: crab fishing. There are, basically, two different ways to do that:

1.) With a baited handmade fishing pole Lucas so professionally designed (that could easily take China out of business with the blink of an eye, but we are just way too kind to do that) using a tree branch, some electric wire, a small stone (to make sure the bait won’t float) and a paper clip as a hook. And some Spanish sausage as bait (sic! It works :P).

our professional fishing equipment

2.) Using a crab net; which is not that fun, in my opinion, since it is a much more passive kind of activity.

It all consists in luring the crabs with the sausage. They seem to be always hungry, so that’s quite easy. When they finally come close to the bait, I usually pull the string just a little so that the cute little crab goes “Hmm, my dinner is about to escape, but I’m much smarter. I’m gonna grab it and eat it up like a savage before it even knows what hit it!”. And well, as I always say, persistence is sometimes only stubbornness.

Pepper by Shel Silverstein

I've recently bumped into a lot of things I used to love when I was younger. Among all the the silly rhyming poems and songs I was taught back then, this is probably the one I remember the most.

Always sprinkle pepper in your hair,
Always sprinkle pepper in your hair.
For then if you are kidnapped by a Wild Barbazzoop,
Who sells you to a Ragged Hag
who wants you for her soup,
She’ll pick you up and sniff you,
And then she’ll sneeze “Achooo,”
And say, “My tot, you’re much too hot,
I fear you’ll never do.”
And with a shout she’ll throw you out,
And you’ll run away from there,
And soon you will be safe at home a-sittin’ in your chair,
If you always, always, always,
Always, always, always, always,
Always, always sprinkle pepper in your hair.

Isn't it cute?

my summer experiences: insects

Did I mention I don't really like the summer weather? I did, didn't I? Above all the sweating, and the constant need of artificial comfort (a.k.a . A/C or air conditioning), insects are the thing I hate the most about summertime. I don't think about that all the time, though. I live in the city and, fortunately, I don't have to put up with them on a daily basis. The thing is now I'm on vacation at the lake house.

I hate insects, particularly flies. But let's not make any distinctions here. All insects are absolutely repulsive. No exceptions apply:  spiders, roaches and each and every creepy crawly creature. However, flies are beyond doubt the most stubborn creatures on the planet: one tries to kill them and while they seem to truly enjoy the game. Perhaps putting their life in jeopardy is their favorite extreme sport (adrenalin addiction, dude!)

In any case, they're awfully irritating. In fact, as I am writing this post, there's one trying my patience here. Remember the "wherever you're going, I'm going your way"? That's pretty much this fly's motto. It has been following me all around for a while and every time I pick up the fly swatter, it simply vanishes. It's tremendously frustrating.

A dirty little secret of mine? Though I have never seen a mouse (a real mouse, I'm not talking about hamsters or sweet little Jerry here), I don't think I would hate them as much as I hate insects. Maybe it's because they're mammals and there are so many cute characterizations of mice in cartoons and movies… Not that I would ever consider having one as a pet, but hey, maybe it's just that I never had to put up with them as a pest.  I know they carry a hundred thousand diseases in their tiny little bodies, but so do insects!

Hey, I have finally killed that fly! Mercilessly.

grab my button!

Ladies and gentlemen:

I am very pleased to announce that ...
... after lots of struggling with my creative skills and with Photoshop....

... this blog finally has its own button!

It must be (so)... liberating

Please don't laugh! :) I know it is way too simple but great ideas often are, right? Besides, that's the only way I would ever be able to do it on my own: I don't like Photoshop at all and I don't know how to properly use it either. And... you know what? I'm proud of my cute little blog button! (Hey, I'm so proud!  :) I did it all by myself!).

«««««

Feel free to grab my button and put it on your blog.
You should do it. Definitely. Now! Just kidding! ... Not really. No, I'm kidding. :)

I'm so excited this blog finally has its own button!
